Vape beat out other contenders for popularity. From new words like zeitgeisty and slacktivism, vape won first prize on Twitter for popularity. Also added to the dictionary was the word e-cig. Now, there’s a consistent way to righty use that hyphen. Although spellcheckers are still likely to go wild with that red squiggly line, it’s a constant reminder of the e-cig novelty.
But will the vape have staying power in the lexicon and still be in use in 10 years? The longevity of the word may depend on the stay power of e-cigarettes themselves.
